Restorative Dentistry
Dental restoration treatments allow Dr. Popp to restore or replace missing pieces of a patient’s tooth structure or restore missing teeth. Patients can lose pieces of their tooth structure due to deterioration of previously restored teeth, decay, or from a tooth fracture. Dr. Popp offers a variety of dental restoration treatments designed to help improve a patient’s smile.
Biomimetic Dentistry
Literally translated, biomimetic dentistry means to copy what’s life-like. When it comes to providing the most successful properties for maintaining the natural health of teeth, nothing can compete with nature. When repairing broken, damaged, and decayed teeth, the goal of biomimetic dentistry is to restore teeth to their original esthetic, function, and strength.
Safe Removal of Mercury Fillings
Amalgam fillings that contain trace levels of mercury can represent a danger to patients’ health. Dr Popp is not only trained in the SMART protocol of safe mercury removal but is also accredited through the IAOMT - International Academy of Medicine and Toxicology for safe mercury removal.
Dental Fillings
At the Colorado BioDental, we offer mercury-free porcelain composite fillings that blend seamlessly with a patient’s smile. Unlike amalgam – or metal – fillings that can threaten the long-term stability of a patient’s tooth, porcelain composite fillings require the removal of less underlying tooth structure, providing better stability and support. Composite fillings can be used to repair teeth affected by fractures, cracks, and decay to restore a patient’s smile back to health.
Dental Bridges
Dental bridges are false teeth that are created to “bridge” the space created by one or more missing teeth. Bridges can be cemented into position or anchored to either side by crowns. Our Denver, CO dental practice offers bridges that can help restore a patient’s smile, improve a patient’s ability to speak and eat, help maintain the shape of the face, spread out the force of a bite properly by replacing missing teeth, and prevent remaining natural teeth from drifting out of position.
Socket Preservation
Colorado Biodental offers socket preservation, more commonly known as bone grafting, in order to help preserve the bone and minimize bone loss after tooth extraction. When teeth are extracted or removed, degeneration of bone around the site can occur. By preserving the socket, however, our doctor can help keep the bone in its original shape. Ideal socket preservation will be utilization of a biomaterial such as a zirconia implant, or utilization of the patient’s own bone.
Tooth Extractions
We can also help when a tooth needs to be extracted. Teeth are extracted for a variety of reasons: they are not positioned properly in your mouth, they are broken and can’t be repaired, or they suffer from immense decay or even from advanced periodontal disease or a failing root canal tooth. During a tooth extraction, we will numb your tooth, jawbone and surrounding gums with a local anesthetic. During the extraction process, there will be a sensation of pressure but no pain, as the anesthetic has numbed the nerves. We will also give you post-operative instructions after
CBCT
A CBCT or Cone-Beam Computed Tomography is very similar to a CT scan. By using CBCT technology, soft tissue, blood vessels, and muscles can be viewed more clearly. CBCT uses a cone-shaped x-ray to minimize radiation exposure and usually takes less than a minute to run.
Dentures
Dentures can replace some or all missing teeth, depending on your treatment. There are a few different options for dentures depending on your personal needs. Complete Dentures replace all of your teeth in your mouth.
Partial Dentures attach to your existing teeth with clasps and can help complete your smile by filling in the spaces created by any missing or gap in your teeth. Partial dentures are constructed of replacement teeth attached to gum-colored plastic bases connected by a metal or non-metal framework.
