In this day and age our population is growing more sensitive to all compounds and products. This includes dental materials. We can screen for sensitivities of all dental materials by taking a blood test. We would recommend this prior to large mouth restorations or if patients are generally sensitive to chemicals or products.
The Clifford Test ELISA, or biocomp labs is an option to screen for possible reactive materials. We and also offer a MELISA test to reactivities to metals. This is the gold standard for metal reactivity and may help patients decide if to remove metals from the mouth entirely.
